Pickleball Coaching: Turn Match Stats into Better Practice

Watch how a coach scores a student's doubles game courtside, adds optional shot, error and rally-length tags, and uses each player's results and playing style to plan the next lesson.

The walkthrough uses demo players and a sample coaching match.

Turn the final score into a coaching conversation

Eleven, seven. You know who won. But what should your student practise next? The answer is in the points. One scored match becomes a clearer coaching conversation. See the winning shots, the costly errors, and the rallies behind the result.

Set up your match

Choose doubles, select Advanced scoring, and add the players. Use their registered accounts, so each student's playing style stays connected to them.

Score each rally and choose what to track

Tap the player who won the rally. The app keeps track of the score, serving side and server number, so you can stay with the game. Open Detailed tracking. Choose winning shots, errors or rally length. Save your favourites as the default, ready for the next match.

Capture the how

A third-shot drop. A long dink rally. An error into the net. Add the detail with quick, optional tags: two selections when you're tracking a shot and its rally length. In a hurry? Skip and keep scoring.

See every player's contribution

Now the result has context. See each player's scoring, break and rally contributions, alongside the match MVP. There is more to discuss than the final score.

See the story of the match

Open Match Details. Find the Playing style cards. Expand the player. Here, the winning shots include drops and dinks. The recorded rally lengths add another layer to the conversation.

Make the next lesson specific

Look at the other side. Net errors stand out. In doubles, these errors describe the pair, not who made each mistake. Use that evidence with your own observations to choose the next drill.

Build a fuller picture

Keep tagging across games, and the player's profile builds a fuller picture. Review the patterns together. Decide what to practise, then take it back to the court.
