How to Run Pickleball Open Play: Check-In, Court Queue and Court TV
Watch a sample Saturday morning open play session with 16 players on 3 courts: players check in by QR code, a live line calls the next four onto each free court, the host records results in a tap, and a screen by the courts shows who is on and who is next.

Saturday morning
Sixteen players. Three courts. And a fence full of paddles. Who's next? Who has waited longest? This is open play with PickleballScorer: a live line, a board for the host, and a screen by the courts, so everyone knows when they're up.
Set it up
Start with the basics: a name, the venue, and the time. Add your courts. Choose the game: to eleven, fifteen, twenty-one, or timed. Then decide what happens after each game. Everyone off, so the next four go on, or winners stay. Add a fee if you charge one, and create the session.
Check in
Share the session. Players scan the code at the desk and check in from their phone, no app needed. They pick a level, and they're in line, with their place right there on the screen. Someone without a phone? Type their name, and they join the end of the line.
Start
Press Start. All three courts fill at once, with partners mixed, and the next four are already waiting. Put the court screen on a TV, and nobody needs to ask who's next.
The next four
When a game ends, tap Game over and enter the score, or just who won. Save, and the court fills again straight away. On Tess's phone, the page changes the moment she's called. You're up, on Court 2.
Run the room
Everything else is one tap. A player takes a break. Someone has paid. You need a court back for a lesson. A player has to leave mid-game. And a helper at the desk can run the same board from their own phone.
Results
When the morning is done, end the session. Every game and every player is in the results, ready to download. Players who sign in with the app have their games count toward their rating. Open play on PickleballScorer is free. Run your next session at pickleballscorer.com.
